If ever the time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin. – Samuel Adams

I am a pragmatist with conservative values and one of five siblings brought up in a democratic household in San Antonio, Texas.  Both of my parents were raised in South Carolina. My father was a trial attorney who later became a federal judge appointed by President Kennedy.  Before marrying my father, my mother taught school in Clover, South Carolina.  My parents were indeed the most influential people in my life.

I graduated from high school in San Antonio and attended college at the University of North Texas and Texas State University.  In 1966, I joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the reserves until 1972.  That same year, I started a career in home building and remained in the construction industry until 2001.  Following this, I had a brief career in the fitness industry and, in 2006, moved on to my current profession as a petroleum landman.  I am a former triathlete who remains dedicated to health and fitness today. I have one son who lives in San Antonio.

My politics are simple: research an issue and create an informed opinion based on knowledge and common sense; this makes me neither a Democrat nor a Republican.  Rather than run for office under the banner of a political party, I chose not to be a member of an elite “club”.  I define myself as an independent thinker who considers all sides of an argument before making an informed decision. The current issues are too complex to have input only from one view.  I will ask for advice from all sides before drawing a conclusion.  My views are solid; however, if I am given a reason to re-evaluate them, I will.  Times change, I can as well.

We all know that life is not easy.  I have held many different jobs throughout my life, and I know what it is to struggle to make ends meet.  My values have been molded by working hard and always wanting to do the right thing; this has made me who I am today.  I don’t make promises; rather, I make every effort to do what I say I will do. That, to me, is the definition of integrity.  Together, with your help, we will restore the soul of America.
